Port of Shelton receives Community Outreach Award

 

The Port of Shelton today announced it has received an award for Community Outreach from the Washington Public Ports Association.  The award is based on a unique idea by Port Chairman Dick Taylor to partner with the local radio station to do a weekly radio segment to keep the public informed of Port activities and to showcase Port tenants.

During the City of Shelton's Shoreline Master Program update process, the City discovered that portions of Oakland Bay Marina were located outside the Shelton city limits and the Shelton Urban Growth Area.  On April 24, 2017 the City Commission voted to approve the annexation of that property and tidelands located within Oakland Bay, thus completing the process of bringing Oakland Bay Marina into the City limits.  Although the action doesn't change anything for the Marina tenants, it is beneficial for the Port to be under only one local permitting jurisdiction.

PORT OF SHELTON AWARDED $300,000 CERB GRANT

The Port of Shelton today announced it has received a $300,000 grant and $300,000 in funding from the Washington State Community Economic Revitalization Board (CERB).  This funding is in the form of a Committed Partnership with Lynch Creek Farm that will include the addition of three (3) loading docks and the removal of concrete footings as the site converts from a former lumber mill to a worldwide greenery shipping company.  (Read More)
